Calipers Technical Information
|

Materials
- The calipers are machined from
aluminium alloy and have a clear, hard anodised finish
for protection.
- The pistons are also manufactured
from aluminium alloy and are coated with TUFRAM. This
specialised aluminium coating combines the hardness
of aluminum-oxide ceramic with the properties of selected
proprietary polymers, providing aluminum parts with
new levels of hardness, wear and corrosion resistance,
and permanent lubricity.
- Any caliper carrier supplied is
made from the same material as the calipers.
Fitting and maintenance
- All calipers use a standard banjo
bolt fitment for brakes lines of M10x1.25mm.
- The brake pads are held in position
using a pin and 'R' clip system. This simple yet effective
method makes it easy to change pads quickly.
- The majority of calipers come supplied
with large, hard anodised bleed bolts with a separate,
removable bleed nipple.
- Virtually all parts of the caliper
are replaceable, making them a cost effective solution.
- In some cases, the calipers are
direct replacements for standard discs and forks,
but if not, mounting brackets can be provided to suit
both standard and oversized disc sizes.
- Detailed dimensional diagrams are
available on request.
Master cylinder requirements...
If you are upgrading to bigger
calipers, you need to ensure that your master cylinder
can cope with the increased pad area to get the full
braking improvement. For ISR calipers, see the table
below for guidance on required master cylinder bore
size for front brakes.
